Remember yourself.

Remember yourself, you are the unchanging sky where innumerable clouds float by without leaving a single trace.  Acknowledge this and be happy.

~Mooji.

Reflection:

The words are simple, hence beautiful.  All our life has been spent in chasing happiness, planing for happiness, working for happiness and craving for happiness. Here, the sage is simply saying, dear, you don't need to do anything, just remember, acknowledge. It is already there.

What does he mean by saying "Remember yourself"?

The actor on the stage has forgotten himself in the character. Similarly, we have forgotten our Self in the roles.

Who are you?  Mother. Really?

Who are you?  Husband. Really?

Who are you?  Hindu. Really?

Have you born with these identities?   Are they not the dresses you have chosen for a fancy dress show?  You have forgotten that you only chose to wear those masks and now you appear to have completely forgotten your own face.  Remember yourself.

There is a beautiful word for remembrance in Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred book of Sikhs, Simran.  In a shabad, Gurunanak ji says,  Every breath simro Govind. Remember Him. All your worries will drop off.

Remember Him, Remember your Self. Both are same. He is not different from you. In fact, there is no distance from God to you.  He is in disguise as you. Naughty one. Okay, but how to remember Him? We know how to remember things, people and experiences.  Self is not a thing or a person or an experience.  It is like the sky where innumerable clouds float by.  It is like silence where innumerable things, people, thoughts and experiences float by.

Remember Him in every breath is to be aware of the Silence behind the experiences, to be aware of the sky behind the clouds.

You are Silence, You are the Sky.  What could these thoughts do to you?  Why are you so much worried about them? They come and play for some time, and pass away with out even leaving the trace.  Do you remember now what you had been thinking 2 years ago?  Do you remember at least 2 minutes before what had happened in your mind?  NO. Everything is moving, changing, dissolving and you just watch them play their own games.

You are not the participant of the game. You are the witness of the game.  Winning or loosing, does not matter to you.  Happiness or sadness, does not matter to you.  Good or bad, Does not matter to you.

Clouds can be heavy, condensed and dark. Sometimes, they may seem to hide the sky.  But, the presence of clouds itself is the proof that there is sky behind. Something is occupying your mind, that is the proof that YOU exist.

Choose to pay attention to the sky rather the clouds.  This is the only option you have.  This is Simran. Remembrance of God.

Acknowledge this, and be happy.
