True meaning of remembrance of God

"If somebody says, "I remember God all the time", then he is deeply mistaken.  Don't try the impossible. Just do what is possible. What is possible?  "Not to remember the world".  That is sufficient.

Don't let the world become so important to you that you remember it all the time.

Whatever you will remember will not be God.  Whatever you will remember will only take you away from God.  God is freedom from remembering."

~Acharya Prashant ji.

From the book, The naked Sky of Freedom.

Reflection:

Anything that is real can not be defined positively.  They can be explained by negation only.  For example, health is absence of disease.  Cleanliness is absence of dirt.  Peace is absence of disturbance.  In the same way, Reality can not be understood directly.

God is the Reality, Truth.  Truth can not be seen or touched or thought about.  Only false can be seen.  That is the only possibility as we are.

We think something or the other all the time.  Thinking is all about objects which has form and name.  God is formless and nameless.  That's why he is said to be in all forms and all names.  How to remember God with this little thinking mind?  Whatever is captured with mind, cannot be God.

So, when the Saints advised us to remember God, it means, "Do not remember the world and its problems to be real".  If you want to have cleanliness, clean up the dirt.  You will see Cleanliness already present.  This is the technique called as Neti, Neti, " Not this, Not that "by Upanishads.

This is the basic lesson in spirituality.
