Man, you have squandered life ~ Sant Kabir

 Nar tum jootte janam gauaaya.

~Kabir Sahib.

Man, you have squandered your life in lies,

False one came to false house, identified with false ones,

Eating false food from false plate, 

Entering into a false house and married to false one,

False bride with false groom, false marriage ceremony

From a false man and false woman, a false baby was born

Feeding false milk from the false breast and false uterus.

Kabir sahib says, Listen, I will tell the Truth, not lies. 

The true ones are called as liars, but

The devotees of God are true,  they are immersed in themselves. 

Kabir ji says, "Man, you have wasted your life in lies".  The life which was not lived rightly is a wasted life. You were thirsty and someone gave cup  of water.  But, instead of drinking it, you spilled it and keep drinking some colored liquid.  You wasted the water.  Similarly, by holding on to wrong things, you simply waste your life.  This life is a rare opportunity to realize yourself, to break free from the prison and fly and enjoy the infinite sky.  It was given to you by Grace, but you wasted it, by your foolishness. 

What is a lie?  

A thing which does not exist, but appears to be existing. 

A promise that was not fulfilled. 

Kabir sahib does not say, "you" have come into a false house, but he says a "false one" has come into false house.  In the first line itself, he refuses the very existence of "you".  You are false.  That's what Kabir sahib is conveying.   The one who came into the body is not real.  It is the jiva, a bundle of  mental tendencies only has come into this body.   What is this body? Flesh and blood. Urine and excretion.  It was born one day and will die, Time will burn the body soon. Who can say that it is my own.  Yet, the jiva enters into the bod, owning this body  and starts identifying as son, daughter, brother, sister, father, mothers etc.,  

 In deserts, it is common that travelers loose even their life by chasing the mirage for water.  There is no water, yet it appears so, Similarly, everything appears here in this world are like mirage. They keep moving, changing and dissolving.  Nothing is permanent. 

Look at the common man's life. It is revolving around only these issues - Food, shelter, sex, marriage and children. Every endeavor of man is to protect and sustain life in this body. Is it not wasting one's life? Investing whole life on something which is  going to fail one day.  

The real is forgotten. Who cares for Joy? What wants freedom? Where is love?  They have been compromised for lies. 

This life should have been used to find freedom from illusions, to find the treasure hidden inside, to express the joy and love, but it has been simply wasted by associating following the false ones.  

Kabir says, "Listen dear, I assure you, I am telling the truth, I wont speak lies.  Those wise ones have been deemed to be liars. Only those who are surrendered to Ram/Truth are real.  They are immersed in their heart and found That which is changeless, deathless and real.  Only he has lived  wisely. Others simply fritter away life in running behind mirages.
